Three people were taken to hospital after a car crashed with a van during a police chase in Seaham.
Officers were called to Lord Byron’s Walk in Seaham around 6pm on Wednesday (August 12), following reports that a VW Polo was driving erratically.
The car failed to stop for police and a short chase took place, Durham Police said.
The car crashed into a van travelling in the opposite direction in Lord Byron’s Walk, before hitting a tree.
The fire service, ambulance service and air ambulance also attended and called, and the road was closed for nine hours while investigations took place. It reopened at 3am.
The driver, a man in his 20s, suffered leg injuries.
His passenger, a woman in her 20s, suffered head injuries, and the driver of the van, a man in his 50s, suffered back injuries.
All three were taken to hospital for treatment.
