Researchers said Newcastle's appeal lies in its compact city centre, cultural attractions and vibrant nightlife, alongside average hotel prices of just £79 a night.

The city is home to venues including the Victorian-era Tyne Theatre & Opera House and Northern Stage, while areas such as Grey Street are known for their historic architecture, independent businesses, restaurants and bars.

Whether it's the buzzing nightlife or the unwavering support for its football club, the city is renowned for a distinctly Geordie welcome.
