North East estate to close for retaining wall repair works - public notice

The closure will affect the footway at Hill Top Gardens from its junction with Primrose Hill to its junction with Church Road, Low Fell, Gateshead.

The Borough Council of Gateshead has announced the temporary closure via a notice under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The closure is necessary to carry out structural repair works to a retaining wall.

The order will be enacted on August 24, with the repairs expected to be completed by September 1.

However, the order allows for a maximum duration of six months, should unforeseen circumstances arise.

The council has confirmed that during the works, all pedestrians will be prohibited from using the affected footpath.

This restriction will not apply to operatives associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty.

Pedestrians will be directed along a signed diversion route.
