A dance and performance company is seeking 80 volunteers to take part in a large-scale community performance in the North East - celebrating the opening of a new cultural venue.
Sunderland-based Southpaw Company is staging a new immersive production called HOME to mark the launch of Culture House in Sunderland this September.
The company, known for its visually striking community performances featuring projections, aerial work, and digital immersion, is inviting people aged 16 and over from Sunderland and surrounding areas to get involved.
Robby Graham, artistic director at Southpaw, said: "Participants don’t have to be professional performers, they simply need curiosity, commitment and a willingness to be part of something very special.
"It will tell a story of who we are, where we’ve come from and what we might become."
The production will see volunteers performing alongside Southpaw’s professional dancers in a city-wide, immersive production using digital visuals, live performance, and storytelling about Sunderland.
Leanne Littlewood, director of Culture House, said the project will be the first immersive building takeover for the new venue.
Ms Littlewood said: "We’re incredibly excited to be working with Southpaw on the delivery of HOME, our first immersive building takeover at Culture House.
"Southpaw operates at the cutting edge of performance and technology, bringing together traditional artistic practice with transformative AR and VR experiences that elevate and enhance live performance."
She also praised the company’s inclusive approach, which welcomes participants with all levels of experience.

The project is being funded by the UK Government as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with thanks to North East Mayoral Strategic Authority. All bodies, identities and experiences are welcome.
Southpaw is based at Sheepfolds Stables in Sunderland.
