Footpaths in North East estate to close for gas main repair works - public notice

Sunderland City Council will temporarily close sections of the footpath in Dene Gardens, Houghton-le-Spring, for repair works.

The closure, due to gas main repairs, will begin on September 9 and is expected to last for seven weeks.

However, the order allows for the closure to be in place for up to six months if needed.

Pedestrians will be prohibited from using the affected sections, except for personnel involved in the works.

Diversions will be put in place via the adjacent highway network.

The closures will be indicated by the display of traffic signs.

The affected areas include:

  • From the extended north-eastern building line of 23 Dene Gardens for a distance of 34 metres in a north-easterly direction.
  • From a point 5.5 metres south of the south-eastern building line of 26 Dene Gardens for a distance of 20 metres in a north-easterly direction.
  • From the extended south-western building line of 34 Dene Gardens for a distance of 47 metres in a north-easterly direction.
