Harrogate pet owner 'desperate' to find beautiful dog who went missing last week in heatwave

An urgent search is under way in Harrogate for a beautiful pet dog called Ozzy who has been missing in the heat and the sun for more than a week.

The lovely nine-year old mini Schnauzer went missing from his family home in the Hookstone area of Harrogate on Wednesday, August 5.

Initially, there was a confirmed sighting of Ozzy on the rail tracks near Crimple Valley viaduct at Hornbeam Park train station on Thursday, August 6 around 11.30am, then potentially another near St John Fisher school on Coach Road on the same day at 2.30pm.

Now, as time goes by and worry grows, a a K9 Search and Rescue alert has been issued on Facebook, the Harrogate Advertiser was told by local businesswoman Mireille Hanshaw.

"His mum is missing him desperately and despite searching for him night and day hand in hand with our wonderful community, we need to find him more than ever now due to the soaring temperatures this week,” she said.

If anyone makes a new sighting, they are asked not to shout out his name or run after him as this may make the much-loved dog hide even further in fright.

"As Ozzy is extremely scared, thirsty, and hungry we kindly ask all searchers not to call his name or chase him but to call/text us his location details,” said Mireille.

The last confirmed sighting was on Friday, August 7 when Ozzy was spotted crossing the railway tracks off Forest Lane, near Crossway Drive/Crescent.

Anyone who thinks they have sighted Ozzy is asked to call the K9-SAR team on 07969 129301, 0775 3260917, 07402 986209 and send a google map location pin with the time, direction of travel if possible.

K9-SAR, is a team dedicated to bringing lost dogs home.
