Students in the Sixth Form at Malton have been celebrating an excellent results day.
Nearly every student secured their first choice destination and all others have had offers from their reserve choice university or through the clearing system.
Other students have gained high quality apprenticeships, some are going straight into employment or are joining the armed forces, and some are taking a gap year.
Headteacher, Rob Williams, said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with these students and to be able to celebrate their success today. I want to wish them all the best for the future and have no doubt that they will go on and make a strong, positive contribution to society. The future will be bright in their hands. I also want to recognise and thank our expert Sixth Form pastoral team and all the staff for their dedication and skill in helping these young people achieve to the best of their ability.”
Beth said: “I am proud of my achievements. The hard work has been worth it.” She is moving on to Leeds Beckett University to do primary school teaching.
Hattie, who is going to Leeds University to study English and Sociology, echoed those sentiments from her friend, “I feel relieved and grateful, it has all been worth it”.
Jonathan added that he is “Excited for the future and for what it might bring”. He is heading off to the renowned Guildford School of Acting to study a degree.
Isaac said he is “really pleased – the results were as good as I could have hoped for.” He is moving on to Durham University to study Civil Engineering.
Isabel said, “I was really nervous last night as I had worked so hard and I am so relieved today as I have got exactly what I needed.” Isabel has gained a sought after place to study Sport Science at Loughborough.
Newcastle, Durham and York Universities proved to be popular destinations for many students, including two, Florence and Eric, who are going to study Medicine at Newcastle. Jack, who gained three A* grades, is heading off to study a joint honours in International Relations and Spanish.
Ben, who gained four A levels including two A* grades, an A and a B, has secured a very highly competitive apprenticeship at Cadbury’s.
The cohort are not only spreading out across the UK, some are travelling overseas – including Megan who has gained a prize scholarship to study at Rhode Island, Massachusetts.
The Director of Sixth Form, Nicky-Jo Cooper, said: “This has been an incredible year group. They have shown great determination and resilience and have supported each other throughout. It has been a privilege to work with them. The Sixth Form team are very proud of them and want to wish them all the very best for their next steps.”
