A popular village pub near York is reporting a successful relaunch after being closed for major renovations.
The Lord Collingwood in Upper Poppleton was closed for two weeks for the work and re-opened about a week ago.
Landlady Beverley Comerford has been at the pub, situated in a 17th Century Grade II-listed building overlooking a village green, for seven years. Before that, Beverley was at The Buckles Inn, the well-known landmark pub by the A64 between Tadcaster and York.
Beverley is originally from Teesside and had a background in retail before entering the pub trade.

She told the Press: “We have had a full refit in the bar, lounge area and toilets. It is a massive improvement and has been received with positive results and comments.”

Next, the pub plans to renovate the beer garden in October.
Beverley added: “We are dog and children friendly, catering for all needs. We have a new lunch menu with Brunch and Boards. Traditional Teesside parmo is served on an evening.
She continued: “We have Bingo night 1st Tuesday of the month, Open mic night last Thursday of the month, Quiz night on Wednesdays, Happy Hour on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm and we serve Sunday Lunch from 12-noon to 3pm.”
The Lord Collingwood is highly regarded on the review websites, receiving 4.2 stars out of five on Tripadvisor, based onb 146 reviews, ranking it second out of seven restaurant in Upper Poppleton.

The latest Tripadvisor review gave five stars out of five and said: “Good unpretentious food in a traditional, atmospheric pub.”
The review added: “A good roast Sunday lunch with vegetables and Yorkshire pudding served quickly in an atmospheric traditional style pub. Haven't been here for nearly a year but we'll be back before long.”
Google awards 4.4 stars out of five, based on 263 Google Reviews. The most recent award five stars with one saying: “Such a great pub! Warm and friendly! Food was fab and the staff happy to help! Definitely recommend and happy to support such a great local.”
