A new centre manager has been appointed at Beverley’s Flemingate shopping centre.

Amy Whittaker joins the team with nearly 20 years of retail management experience as the centre continues to grow, attract new occupiers, and record a three per cent rise in footfall so far this year.

Her career began with training management roles at Tesco, before spending time at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Ms Whittaker said: "I’m excited to work closely with our tenants and to play an active role in the events and activities that make Flemingate such an important and popular destination.

"My focus is on building relationships, streamlining processes and continually improving the experience for both our tenants and visitors to the centre.

"What excites me most is the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the centre, delivering growth and enhancing Flemingate’s contribution to the economy and community in Beverley."

The centre is now close to full occupancy, with regional retailer Yorkshire Trading Company set to open in one of the largest units, while indoor golf and entertainment venue FORE! will also be opening next month.

Ms Whittaker was recruited by Wykeland Group, Flemingate’s owner and operator, as part of an enhanced operating model across its retail portfolio.

The centre manager role is intended to strengthen on-site leadership, communications with tenants, and service standards.

Jason Platten, head of retail and leisure at Wykeland, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Amy to lead the team at Flemingate.

"She brings extensive experience, strong leadership and a drive to ensure Flemingate reaches its full potential."

Flemingate’s retail line-up features H&M, Sports Direct, Superdrug, Shoezone, Card Factory and The Entertainer.

Independent businesses include Art & Soul, Baytree Interiors and Beverley Travel.

The centre’s hospitality and leisure offerings include Parkway Cinema, Ambiente Tapas, Tomahawk Steakhouse, The Boardroom, Sumo Pan Asian, Starbucks, Costa Coffee, Greggs and Firepit sports bar.
