Two people freed after becoming trapped in York shopping park at midnight

A rescue mission was undertaken after two people became stuck at a York shopping park.

It happened on Kathryn Avenue, which leads to the Vangarde Shopping Park in Huntington.

Firefighters were sent to help at 12.04am today (Wednesday).

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The York crew responded to two people who had accidentally become trapped and were unable to exit the enclosed grounds of a commercial property.

“Crews located the people who were both uninjured.”

Kathryn Avenue is home to the LNER Community Stadium as well as a number of prominent businesses including the Aldi store and the rear of Stoneacre Ford.

The spokesperson said they were unable to identify which business was involved, but did say the two people had moved from one premises to another.
