Travellers have been issued a court order to leave a Redcar football pitch.
An encampment of around 12 caravans set up on Redcar Athletic’s ground on Sunday (August 9), sparking the cancellation of all football games.
Kirkleatham ward councillor Alec Brown said at the time that he understood the travellers were “on holiday and planned to stay at the site for two weeks” - adding that reports had been made of vehicles doing ‘donuts’ on the pitch.
It was the first of two traveller convoys to move in on fields in Redcar this week, the second being on Kirkleatham Showground on Tuesday.

Both traveller encampments remain at Redcar Athletic Football Club and Kirkleatham Showground this evening, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council has confirmed.
However, the council said a court order has been granted and served to the occupants on the football club’s land today.
They have until 12pm tomorrow to leave or further enforcement action will be taken.

Kirkleatham Showground is continuing to be monitored and, if travellers fail to leave, an application for a court order will be made tomorrow morning.

A spokesperson said: "Update on traveller encampments at Redcar Athletic Football Club and Kirkleatham Showground.
"Redcar Athletic Football Club - a court order was granted and served today to the occupants. They have until 12 pm tomorrow to vacate or further enforcement action will be taken.
"Kirkleatham Showground – occupants are still present and the site is being monitored. If they fail to vacate, an application for a court order will be made tomorrow morning."
