A prized collection of rare Dinky Toys has sold for more than £146,000 in the North East after attracting strong interest from collectors across the UK and overseas.
The K.B. Dinky Toy Collection went under the hammer on August 4 and 5 at Vectis Auctions in Thornaby, Teesside.
Featuring 995 lots from a private collector, the collection included rare pre-war models, trade packs, and unusual colour variants.

The sale attracted bidders from around the world and achieved a total of £146,461.
Among the top-selling items was a pre-war Type 1 29C Double Decker "Dunlop" bus in cream and maroon, which fetched £4,655.
A Dinky Toys 501 Foden Diesel Wagon—a US-only issue—also reached £4,655.

Other standout results included a rare Type 2 Dinky Toys 503 Foden Flat Truck with a burnt orange cab and yellow back, which sold for £4,165.
A red and green Type 2 Foden Flat Truck achieved £3,062.

More unusual finds included a two-tone cream and violet blue 156 Rover 75 Saloon, selling for £918, and a BP Petrol Pump Set, which reached £686.

Several lots far exceeded initial estimates.
The Dinky Toys 156 Rover 75 Saloon, estimated at £200–£300, sold for £918, while the Dinky Toys 178 Plymouth Plaza, estimated at £150–£170, went for £784.
