Harrogate Odeon screening this weekend for major new movie starring teenage actress born in the town

A teenage Harrogate actor regarded as one of the most exciting young new British screen talents will appear on the big screen at the town’s Odeon cinema this weekend when her new movie is released nationwide.

Incredibly-talented Harrogate-born Alexa Goodall has already featured in The Guardian for her performance in new blockbuster fantasy film Momo and the Time Thieves whose story was inspired by the author of The NeverEnding Story.

Starring alongside big names such as Martin Freeman and Claes Bang, the 14-year-old Harrogate teenager plays the title role of Momo, an orphan girl with magic powers who lives in the ruins of an old Roman amphitheatre and is popular with everybody in the neighbourhood.

But when a powerful international corporation starts stealing everybody’s time, nobody has any time left for her, let alone their friends or families.

Momo, together with Master Hora, the custodian of time, are the only ones who can go up against the time thieves before all is lost forever.

The new internationally-produced fantasy feature is getting a UK-wide release this weekend across major chains including Vue, Showcase and the Odeon, where it will be screened in Harrogate.

Directed by Christian Ditter, the film is a new English remake of a German fantasy novel, Momo, a classic 1970s book by Michael Ende, author of The NeverEnding Story.

Alexa has been acting since she was a young child, first appearing on screen aged 10.

She now boasts a growing body of work spanning numerous projects and genres, including fantasy, drama, comedy and period storytelling.

The rising star has impressed the critics in a number of significant productions, including starring alongside Ewan McGregor in Paramount+ TV mini series A Gentleman in Moscow, playing Bryony Furleigh in the 2024 British folk horror film Lord of Misrule alongside Tuppence Middleton and, also, appearing as Sonia McCann in the acclaimed ITV drama The Long Shadow about the lives of the victims of Peter Sutcliffe.

Momo and the Time Thieves is distributed by Constantin Film, best known for the hugely successful Resident Evil film franchise.
