A housebuilder has donated £1,500 to a charity appeal supporting vital neonatal care.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes made the donation to York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity’s Tiny Lives Appeal, which supports York Hospital.

The funds will help provide specialist care for babies born prematurely or with serious health issues.

Rachel Brook, head of charity at York & Scarborough Hospitals Charity, said: "We are absolutely delighted and feel privileged to be chosen for a Community Fund donation.

"I’d like to say a huge thank you to the team at Barratt and David Wilson for choosing to support us."

The donation will go toward the £2.9 million refurbishment of the unit, which will include new equipment and furnishings to create a calmer, less clinical environment for families.

Daniel Smith, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: "We are proud to support the York & Scarborough Hospital Charity’s Tiny Lives Appeal."
