Special accolades planned for Yorkshire Post Rural Awards' tenth anniversary

With just four weeks left to enter this year’s Yorkshire Post’s Rural Awards its organisers have revealed they are planning “special accolades” to mark the prestigious event’s tenth anniversary.

Chris Berry, who will both be a member of the judging panel and compere the black tie awards ceremony at Pavilions of Harrogate on October 22, at 6.30pm, said the milestone event represented an opportunity to showcase some of the region’s most remarkable rural enterprises. Calling for nominations, which will close on August 28 at 6pm, Mr Berry said the awards would see inspirational individuals and groups challenging for 16 categories, including eight farming awards.

This year’s awards will be have a headline sponsor of Nufarm, based at Wyke, Bradford, which is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of crop protection solutions and speciality seeds, while the Yorshire Agricultural Society will also sponsor the event.

Alongside titles for Dairy, Cattle, Pig, Sheep, Poultry, Arable, Mixed Farm and Rare Breed farms, the awards will include Farm Shop, Environmental Initiative, Educational Initiative, Farming or Rural Event, Rural Accommodation, Rural Business and Agricultural Innovator of the Year and the Rural Rising Star of the Year.
