British Transport Police has launched an investigation after a woman was reported to have been punched and kicked by a man on a train.
The service from London King’s Cross to Aberdeen, which stops in York, was travelling between Newark Northgate and Doncaster at the time of the incident on Sunday (August 2) at around 11.20am.
Police said she was punched several times and kicked by a male.
A spokesperson said: “Several people came to the woman’s aid as the male fled to another part of the train.
“The suspect is described as white, around 15 to 20-years-old, of slim build, with short brown hair.
“He was wearing a light blue baseball cap, black jacket, white t-shirt with black writing on the front and blank shorts.
“Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 230 of 2 August.
“Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
