A man has appeared in court charged with GBH after a woman was stabbed on a "quiet" County Durham street.
Cameron Green, 21, was arrested after a woman was found with a single stab wound to her back in Alder Close, Pelton on Thursday, August 6.
Green was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as the woman was rushed to the RVI in Newcastle.
Durham Police confirmed he was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Police cordoned off five homes in Pelton.

He appeared before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates Court on Saturday (August 8) and entered no plea.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Durham Crown Court on September 4.
Police previously confirmed the suspect and victim were known to each other, and officers are satisfied this is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.
Police were called by ambulance colleagues at 9pm on Thusday.
Pictures showed the scene showed a cordon in place around a row of homes.

Residents previously told how armed police swarmed their "quiet" estate.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, told the Echo: "The woman who was stabbed in the back was lying on the floor outside.
"Ambulance, police, a critical incident team and armed police were all here - the whole estate was covered."
