A man involved in a collision in which the passenger of another vehicle suffered serious injury is to stand trial over the manner of his driving prior to the crash.
Kevin Armstrong is charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving arising from the incident on the A182, near Seaham, on November 26, 2025.
He was at the wheel of a BMW which was in a collision with a Volkswagen Beetle from which two occupants were taken to hospital, one, in her 90s, suffering serious injuries.

Appearing at a plea hearing at Durham Crown Court, the 48-year-old defendant, pleaded not guilty.
The first available date in the court calendar for a trial of up to three days could not be pinpointed any earlier than January 25, 2028.
Agreeing the case timetable, Judge Advocate Edward Legard said the case may benefit for a further case management hearing to see what expert evidence can be agreed.
Armstrong, of Eden Street, Horden, was granted extended bail to return to court for that hearing, on Friday November 27.
