A celebration of steam heritage is set to return as the North Yorkshire Moors Railway prepares to host its annual Steam Gala with at frozen ticket prices.
The four-day event will run from September 24 to September 27, and will feature a packed programme of historic locomotives, scenic journeys and family-friendly activities.
Among the headline engines taking part are No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, courtesy of the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust Ltd; No. 4079 Pendennis Castle from Didcot Railway Centre; and the T3 class No. 563, provided by the Swanage Railway Trust.

A full timetable of steam services will run through the North York Moors National Park, with additional attractions including a barbecue at Grosmont and the railway’s popular annual beer festival.
Visitors can also enjoy the Shed Shop’s selection of railway memorabilia and relax in the railway’s tea rooms.
There will be a shuttle service from Whitby to Grosmont in the morning and a return shuttle from Grosmont to Whitby for visitors joining from Whitby.
Day tickets remain frozen at the 2025 price, starting at £49.50 per adult, and children aged 0 to 15 can travel for free.
A donation ticket is also available at £54.45 per day.

Multi-day tickets are on offer, and those holding Patron or Ambassadors memberships receive free entry to the gala.
For steam fans unable to attend the event, NYMR will run special pre-booked, seat-allocated services in September and October featuring the star locomotives as part of its Rockstar Engines programme.
