Pioneering Harrogate vets marks fifth anniversary with 10 practices and ambitious new expansion plans

A rapidly-expanding Harrogate family vets group which has treated more than 63,000 pets since its was founded five years ago says it is “extremely proud of what we’ve created”.

In just five short years Harrogate headquartered independent veterinary group, Harrison Family Vets has opened ten practices across England, creating 118 jobs.

The family-run firm’s fifth anniversary comes at a time when demand for independently-owned veterinary practices continues to grow, with Harrison Family Vets investing heavily in both clinical facilities and team development.

Tim Harrison, managing director at Harrison Family Vets, said: "We launched Harrison Family Vets knowing there was room in the market for an independent group, with modern, state-of-the-art practices that provide outstanding, affordable veterinary care focused on the wellbeing of pets and their owners.

“We’re all extremely proud of what we’ve created over the last five years."

Reducing fear, anxiety and stress for every pet that visits its practices is one of the key goals of Harrison Family Vets.

In 2023, its Reading branch became the first veterinary practice outside of North America to secure the coveted ‘Fear Free Veterinary Practice Certification’ in recognition of its initiatives and facilities to do just that.

Several of Harrison Family Vets’ other locations have also now passed this rigorous assessment and inspection process to become a Fear Free Veterinary Practice.

In addition, all team members are completing individual Fear Free Professional Accreditations.

The company’s managing director said investing in staff was crucial in creating high quality vets practices.

Harrison Family Vets has plans for further growth with the opening of a new practice in Darlington later this year and plans to open in five more locations next year.
