Mayor for York & North Yorkshire David Skaith said he was “really encouraged” by a visit to a new housing development in Harrogate where 40% of homes will be affordable.

Mayor for York & North Yorkshire David Skaith was hosted by Persimmon at their King Edwin Park development, one of the largest developments under construction in the Harrogate area.

Located on Penny Pot Lane, the new development will deliver hundreds of new homes ranging from three bed semis, through to five-bed detached.

A total of 40% of the homes on the site have been designated as ‘affordable housing’ with a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership properties.

"To solve our housing crisis, we have to build our way out of it,” said Mr Skaith, who is from Harrogate.

"That's why seeing King Edwin Park, where 40% of homes will be affordable is so encouraging.

"This development is a key piece in the puzzle as we work towards our ambitious goal of building 25,000 affordable homes across the county in the next ten years.

"Working in close partnership with Homes England, local councils, and developers, we'll deliver the right homes in the right places with the right infrastructure."

In addition to large areas of public open spaces, 39 purpose-built allotments have been constructed and transferred to Killinghall Parish Council.

King Edwin Park is situated next to Killinghall Moor Country Park, with house prices ranging from £279,950 to £404,950.

Regents View focuses on premium three, four, and five-bedroom traditional-style properties styled with high-end finishings, tree-lined avenues, green spaces, and nature ponds.
