Thousands of homes and businesses in York Outer can now access faster broadband.
The upgrades are part of Quickline’s Project Gigabit contracts, a Government-backed programme focused on getting faster, more reliable broadband into communities that might otherwise be missed by commercial providers.
Around 3,010 homes and businesses have benefited from the scheme, with Bishopthorpe named as one of the latest places to benefit.
Luke Charters, MP for York Outer, said: "This is great news for Bishopthorpe.
"I know connectivity is a huge issue across York Outer, especially in our more rural villages.
"It’s something residents raise with me regularly, and when your broadband isn’t up to scratch, it can be incredibly frustrating.
"Whether you’re trying to work from home, run a local business, get the kids’ homework done or just make a video call without it freezing halfway through, having a decent connection really matters."

Mr Charters added: "We’ve still got more to do.
"I want every village across York Outer to have the connectivity it needs, because living in a rural community shouldn’t mean having to settle for a poorer service."
