Police officers hurt in crash between car and lorry on the A64 near York

Two police officers were injured when their car and a lorry collided on the A64.

It happened at Barton Hill, between York and Malton, at 12.14pm on Friday (7 August).

As YorkMix reported, the road was closed for some time. Firefighters had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free two people trapped in the car.

Today (Monday), a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said the crash involved an unmarked police vehicle and an HGV.

“Two police officers travelling in an unmarked Peugeot 308 responding to an operational matter in the course of their duties sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment,” they said.

“The driver of the HGV was uninjured.”
