A £1 million immersive entertainment venue is set to open in York.
The Escapologist will launch in city centre this November in the former Biltmore bar and Grill in Swinegate, which is to close this Saturday.
The investment supports the city’s leisure and hospitality sector with the creation of 25 to 30 jobs.

"29 Swinegate is a building with remarkable history and soul and we take our responsibility as its new custodian very seriously.
"Whether you are solving mysteries in Hadrig's Forgotten Forest or trying your hand at EscaPool, we can’t wait to open the doors and welcome locals and visitors alike this November."
Originally built around 1910, the site has served as a WWI military hospital, a 500-seat church, and a popular venue.
The Escapologist team plans to retain the building’s historic character during the transformation.
The venue will offer more than just escape rooms.
Visitors can expect a mix of immersive adventures, food and drink, and interactive games under one roof.
Three escape room experiences will be available at launch.
Mission to Mars offers a space adventure, Hadrig's Forgotten Forest caters to fans of fantasy, and The Grand Continental Express provides a classic mystery experience.
Each room, designed and built in-house, accommodates up to six players and is suitable for families, friends, celebrations and team outings.
The venue will also introduce ‘EscaPool’ — a game that combines elements of crazy golf with pool — and will feature interactive darts lanes.
A full café, restaurant, and bar will serve guests, offering signature smoking cocktails, rotating cocktails of the month, indulgent milkshakes, and magical potion-inspired drinks for younger visitors.
The Escapologist has partnered with York Coffee Emporium as part of its food and drink offering.
The venue has been designed to welcome players of all ages, and all three escape rooms will be suitable for children and adults alike.
The Escapologist continues to work with a number of specialist independent suppliers during the fit-out.
Bookings are expected to open soon, giving visitors the opportunity to secure their experience in time for the festive season.
