Hull City transfer news: Halfway to signings target as new boy's dream summer continues

Hull City have completed the signing of Sweden's Elliot Stroud, meaning they are now halfway towards chairman/owner Acun Ilicali's target of 14 additions as they prepare for a return to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old, who played in this summer's World Cup, has signed a four-year contract.

The fee paid to Mjalby has not been disclosed, but is reportedly in the region of £2.2m, with the potential to almost double with add-ons.

Stroud played on the left at the World Cup, where he appeared in all four of their matches, but has played at right wing-back in the past.

This has been a breakthrough summer for Stroud. After his international debut in June, then appearing at the World Cup quickly after, he will achieve another dream by playing in the Premier League.

“I am super-happy and super-excited to get started here,” he commented. “When I first heard of the interest, it was the only thing I wanted to do.

“I have individual hopes to play at the highest level possible. To do it here in Hull is a very exciting opportunity.

“I had a fantastic time at Mjällby. I felt I was ready for the next chapter and I’m really looking forward to making some statements here.

“It was a dream of mine to play in the Premier League. I am super-excited to get this opportunity and hopefully create something magical this season.”

Stroud is the Tigers' seventh signing of the window after Jack Butland, Hidemasa Morita, Oscar Zambrano, Matt Targett, Jens Hjerto-Dahl and £20m club record signing Konstantinos Tzolakis.
