A new building has opened at a private addiction rehab facility in a North Yorkshire town.
Ark House opened its new lecturing and counselling premises at its site in Scarborough on Saturday (August 8) to help people recover from drug addiction and alcoholism issues.
The new facility comes as part of an ongoing investment into Ark House which has also seen a £17,000 kitchen renovation and an extension to current rooms in the main building.

Nineties pop singer Kavana, aka Anthony Kavanagh, was among those in attendance at the opening and said: “I know the courage and strength it takes to battle addiction, and Ark House provide such excellent care for those starting their recovery journey.”

Chris Long, a director at Ark House, said it was a “very special day” as the new building opened.
“To welcome members of the recovery community alongside former residents who are walking a new path in life, is something we are truly grateful for,” he said.
“The Akron Suite is part of the continued growth of Ark House Rehab, which allows our multidisciplinary team to deliver highly personalised, evidence-based care to more individuals in the community.”
Ark House was founded in 1993 by Scarborough businessman Bjorn Roswald, “whose own struggles with alcohol led him on a journey that would ultimately transform addiction treatment in the North of England”, according to the company’s website.
