If you are looking for somewhere to go for a peaceful summer escape, you might want to head to the Northumberland coast.
Northumberland is home to so many sandy beaches that are a lot quieter than your popular seaside resorts.
If you want to go on a long dog walk or want to relax on the beach, you could head to Sugar Sands.
Sugar Sands is "loved by locals" but never gets too busy, even in the summer.
What is Sugar Sands beach like?
On the beach, Coast and Cove Escapes said: "Tucked away near Howick, Sugar Sands is one of Northumberland’s most secluded and beautiful beaches.
"Reaching the beach requires a short walk, but the reward is a peaceful stretch of golden sand surrounded by grassy dunes and rugged cliffs.
"It’s the perfect spot for families wanting a quieter beach day or couples looking for a scenic coastal escape.
"The beach is rarely crowded, even during summer, giving visitors plenty of space to relax and enjoy the views."
The beach is backed by dunes and has lots of rock pools to explore if you want to find some wildlife.
The beach has a bit of shelter from the wind and is easily reachable from the pay-and-display car park in Howdiemont.
The beach is also dog-friendly, so no member of the family is left out of the trip.
After spending a day at the beach, you can head into the nearby village of Longhoughton.
You can visit the Running Fox café to enjoy a breakfast ranging from a full English to a scone topped with bacon and eggs, or a sandwich or soup for lunch.
You could create your own afternoon tea by choosing from a selection of sandwiches, a slice of pie or quiche, a slice of cake, and a scone.
You can choose to take your afternoon tea away to enjoy on Sugar Sands beach.
One reviewer on Tripadvisor said: "Lovely little trip to The Running Fox, one of my favs up in Northumberland.
"We called in on Saturday lunchtime and were shown to a lovely seat with a sofa bench.
"We ordered chilli jam and halloumi sandwich, steak pie slice and a child’s afternoon tea.
"Really good value for the child’s tea sandwich, puffs and a cake and drink.
"We normally get the afternoon tea but we’re trying to be good after our walk!
"Great selection of cakes as per usual."
