Police are investigating a tree that is believed to have been set on fire deliberately in York.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze in Bishopthorpe Road at about 4.20am on Sunday (August 9).
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it understood that the fire was started deliberately and informed police about the incident.
In a statement, the fire service said: “A crew from York responded to a tree that was on fire.
“Crews extinguished the fire using two knapsack sprayers.
“Police were informed due to the cause of the fire was believed deliberate.”
Elsewhere, police are investigating another fire that was started deliberately in York on Saturday night.
Firefighters were called to the fire in a rear garden in Tennyson Avenue, Clifton, which spread to a fence.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said two crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel.
The service said police had been informed as the cause was "determined as deliberate".
