Train evacuated at York Station after smoke seen in carriage

Firefighters were called to an incident at York Station this afternoon (Saturday).

Two crews responded to the call at 3.52pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Acomb and York proceeded to investigate a report of smoke issuing from a stationary train carriage.

“All people were evacuated and crews confirmed a minor area in a toilet that had some smoke visible.

“Crews isolated power and made area safe.”
