Police are urging people to “arrange your transport home” after three people were charged with drink driving offences in North Yorkshire.
It follows three incidents in Scarborough involving alleged drink driving last weekend, North Yorkshire Police said.
Sergeant Robert Wardle, from Scarborough’s response team, said the force wants “people to go out and enjoy themselves” but those planning to drink alcohol should “arrange a lift or book a taxi” home.
“Avoid taking the car into town, to prevent the temptation to drive home later," he said. "Even if you think you will be below the limit, alcohol reduces your reaction times."
The warning comes after police said a 44-year-old Scarborough man was charged for failing to provide a specimen of breath following him being arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed limit of alcohol when driving.
A 29-year-old man from Scarborough was charged with being over the prescribed limit of alcohol, blowing 59µg/L when the legal limit is 35µg/L. He was also charged with driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
A 37-year-old Scunthorpe man was charged for failing to provide a specimen of breath, driving without insurance and driving whilst disqualified.
All three men will appear before Scarborough Magistrates Court on August 17.
