Rother Valley Country Park: Facilities 'temporarily closed' as statement released

Teams “working at pace” to complete inspections and assessments

Water sports hire and cycle hire facilities have been suspended at Rother Valley Country Park after an incident affecting an “individual user.”

In a statement online in the last hour, a spokesperson for the park said: “Following an incident affecting an individual user of the facilities, we have taken the decision to temporarily close our water sports hire and cycle hire facilities while we carry out additional checks on equipment and operating procedures.

“The safety of our visitors and staff is always our top priority, and we are committed to maintaining the high standards we expect across all our facilities.

“We appreciate that this is during one of the busiest periods of the year and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

“Our teams are working at pace to complete inspections and assessments, with the aim of reopening facilities as soon as possible.

“We expect this to happen on a phased basis, and we are hopeful that some facilities will reopen in the coming days.

“The temporary closure applies to our cycle hire facilities, the water sports hire and all private launches, including paddle boards, kayaks and canoes.

Rother Valley Country Park remains open to visitors, including its cafes, play areas and outdoor spaces.

"Sheffield Cable Waterski and Aqua Park are operating as normal, and we continue to welcome visitors to enjoy everything else the park has to offer.

“We will provide further updates as soon as more information is available.”
