A York bridge will close overnight next week for emergency repairs.
Lendal Bridge will shut onWednesday(12 August) from** 8pm**, reopening the following morning at** 6am**.
City of York Council say it’s to carry out essential road resurfacing.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the pavements to cross Lendal Bridge as usual, maintaining access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.
The latest closure follows the bridge shutting for three nights in March for repair work.
City of York Council is urging road users to plan ahead if they are likely to be in this area on Wednesday night.
It has delivered letters to residents and businesses in the area to notify them of the work.

Lendal Bridge diversions
Vehicle diversion route is marked with blue. Cyclist diversion route is marked with green. Lendal Bridge is marked with red.
Cars: Motor vehicles will be diverted along Station Road, Queen Street, Blossom Street, A59 Holgate Road, Poppleton Road, A1176 Water End bridge, A19 Clifton and Bootham to the Gillygate junction.
Cycles: Cyclists travellingtowards the railway station from town will be diverted along Blake Street, Davygate, Parliament Street, High Ousegate, Low Ousegate, Bridge Street, Micklegate, George Hudson Street and Rougier Street. Travelling inthe opposite direction, cyclists will be diverted along Rougier Street, George Hudson Street, Micklegate, Bridge Street, Low Ousegate, Spurriergate, Coney Street and Lendal.
Buses will continue to operate but some routes will be diverted after 8pm as a result of the road closure so please plan ahead and allow extra time to travel. During the day, (from 6am to 8pm) the buses will operate as normal.
Lendal the street, linking Coney Street to Museum Street, will remain open.
From 8pm to 6am on 12 August, the ‘no right turn’ at the Lendal exit will be suspended and drivers will be allowed to turn right.
This means that Blue Badge holder access can be used at all times. Vehicles and cyclists using Lendal outside footstreet hours will also be able to turn right during the working hours.
Emergency services will always be permitted through the works at all times.
The contractor carrying out the work will be Lane Rentals who are responsible for safety while the work is ongoing.
A City of York Council spokesperson said: “As with any construction work there is likely to be a certain amount of disruption and inconvenience, but everything reasonably possible will be done to keep this to a minimum.”
Lendal Bridge is set to close for two months next year for “urgent structural metalwork repairs”.
