York crews were called to three fires in less than 20 minutes off the same street.
The calls were to Water Lane between4.08pm and4.25pm.
Water Lane backs on to the Clifton Backies nature reserve.

Firefighters were first called to a fire in the open. On arrival they found this was out and used a backpack sprayer to damp down the area.
They then discovered a further fire nearby consisting of wood and tree branches, and used two further backpack sprayers to extinguish.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A further crew attended a separate area of Water Lane following a report of a further fire in the open. Crew confirmed a fire involving approximately 200 sq metres of grassland.
“One hose reel and beaters used to extinguish. Police also attended the area.”
