Harrogate's iconic Bottom of the Bottle music event is to return for 25th anniversary reunion

An iconic music night which showed there’s another side to Harrogate is to return for one night only for its 25th anniversary.

Helmed by legendary Harrogate DJ Trev, Bottom of the Bottle arrived with a bang in 2001, providing a noisy reminder that there was more to the town and its people than flower beds and tea rooms.

Offering Metal, Nu-Metal, Punk, Pop-Punk, Emo, Screamo and more, along with North Yorkshire Hardcore punk events and Charm alt-indie gigs, DJ Trev’s Bottom of the Bottle nights were the meeting place for a generation of music fans.

The sounds, either brilliantly spun from the decks or provided by live bands from Harrogate such as Drowned in Flames or Kerrang! favourites from across Britain, was unforgettably loud and strong with echoes that can still be heard to this day, if you have the right ears.

Now comes the Bottom of the Bottle 25th Anniversary Reunion – a genuine blast from the past.

Taking place at The Bilton Club on Friday, October 16, DJ Trev says he can’t wait for this night of noisy nostalgia which, he adds, is as much about the audience as the music.

"There's loads of lovely moments I remember over the years with people telling me what the night meant to them, which always really touched me,” said Trev.

“When we did a couple of parties at Montey's in Harrogate in 2024 what I loved was when people - now in a different stage of their lives, with families of their own - telling me how much they not only remembered the original nights but needed the occasional reunion to just party like we used to.”

Those wild and crazy days, which kept alive the anarchic spirit of the dear departed Harrogate Arms pub of the 1990s into the Noughties and Tens, may be a thing of the past but the love of energy-packed music and the friendships that creates is still going strong, says Trev.

"For the reunion I'm putting in a full shift to make it authentically like the old days but with an eye on where we all are now.

"It won't just be a sonic onslaught, the venue will be totally suited to the times with quieter - and louder - areas, and we'll be going from 7pm until midnight so that the day after isn't as tough as it used to be!”
