Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood's Bay launches afternoon tea – with a twist
A NORTH Yorkshire hotel is serving up a coastal twist on afternoon tea – offering a chance to enjoy this very British tradition while taking in one of the best coastal views around.
The Bay Explorer Afternoon Tea is a limited-edition experience available at Hotel Victoria in Robin Hood’s Bay as part of Afternoon Tea week, which runs from August 10 to 16.
The Bay Explorer Afternoon Tea includes a leisurely journey aboard a charming Monaco Golf Buggy, transporting guests from the hotel into the heart of the historic fishing village.
From there, visitors have an hour to explore Robin Hood’s Bay, with its narrow, cobbled streets, maritime heritage and independent shops.
On returning to the hotel, guests can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea with a distinctly Yorkshire flavour, served in the AA Rosette Osborne’s Restaurant which benefits from panoramic sea views.
Ryan Osborne, executive chef at Hotel Victoria, said: "We’ve created an afternoon tea that is inspired by the Yorkshire coast."
The menu features a delicious selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, savouries, homemade cakes and warm fruit scones served with strawberry preserve and Chantilly cream, accompanied by a choice of tea or coffee.
Highlights include honey roast Yorkshire ham with beer chutney, oak-smoked salmon with cream cheese and cucumber, and the Robin Hood’s Bay Fisherman’s Treat – dressed Whitby crab served with sourdough bruschetta, saffron aioli, pickled cucumber and bay bronze fennel.
