Watch moment Doncaster man forced to sprint after his own car after forgetting to apply handbrake

Wayne Anderson from Skellow had to chase down his rolling Jaguar E-Pace after he forgot to apply the manual handbrake.

Footage shows the moment a Doncaster man was forced to chase his own car down his driveway after he forgot to put the handbrake on.

Wayne Anderson, 42, parked his Jaguar E-Pace at the top of his driveway before running into his house to grab a parcel he had forgotten to take to the post office on 31 July 2026.

His car has an automatic handbrake that engages if he turns the engine off. But Wayne left the engine running and forgot to apply the manual handbrake. Seconds later, the car began rolling down the driveway.

Video footage, sent to Talk to the Press, shows Wayne walking out of his house with the parcel, before realising his car was no longer where he had left it. He then sprints after the vehicle, throwing the parcel aside as he desperately tries to stop the car from rolling.

The car crashes backwards into a wall, with the impact finally bringing it to a stop. The collision left the rear door damaged but prevented the vehicle from rolling any further.

Wayne, from Skellow, said: "The week before this I'd already lost my wallet and my car keys, so I wasn't exactly having the best run of luck. My wife, Tracey, had told me to be on my best behaviour.

"For the first few seconds I was thinking, 'Where's my car?' I was so confused. Then it clicked that it was probably rolling. When I saw it picking up speed, I just threw the parcel and ran after it.

"My wife wasn't too happy. After losing my wallet and my car keys, I just thought, 'She's going to go mental.'"
