Man, 78, suffers life-threatening injuries in Aldi car park crash

A 78-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a car in the car park of an Aldi store in Brighouse.

At around 12:55pm on Thursday (Aug 6), police responded to reports of a crash in Brighouse.

The incident occurred in an Aldi car park, on Halifax Road, and involved a Toyota Prius and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and is in police custody.

Police have launched an appeal for anyone with information or any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are carrying out enquiries. They are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage to come forward.
