Union Street will be shut from 8am on August 26 until 6pm on August 28 for repairs to telecoms ducts.

The closure will affect property numbers 30-48 on the street.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council issued the order to ensure the works are carried out safely.

While the repairs are underway, a diversion will be in place.

Traffic will be redirected via Bridge Street, Chapmangate, Market Street, and back onto Union Street.

Although the road will be closed to through traffic, residents, emergency vehicles, and pedestrians will still have access.

The works are anticipated to be completed within the three-day window.

However, the council's order allows for the closure to remain in force for up to 18 months, if necessary, or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner.

The repair work is being undertaken to locate and fix damaged or blocked telecoms ducts.

These repairs are deemed necessary to ensure the safety of the public.
