Part of Barf Lane in Bugthorpe will be shut for soil investigation works at Barf Bridge from August 24 to August 28.
The closure will occur from its junction with Roman Road A166.
The road will be closed to all through traffic, pedestrians, and emergency services due to the nature of the works, which will require plant and holes to be dug in the carriageway.
The closure is necessary to ensure public safety while the works are being carried out and completed.
The council has provided an alternative route for affected traffic, which includes Barf Lane, Main Street, Bugthorpe Lane, Brickyards Lane, A166 Clay Hill, and A166 Roman Road.

The order for the road closure will come into effect on August 24 and will remain in place for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is sooner.
The council has made it clear that the road closure is necessary to ensure public safety during the works.
