Recruitment underway ahead of re-opening of Sam Smith's pub in York

Recruitment is underway for a Sam Smith’s pub in York, said to be re-opening next week.

A sign has been placed in the window of the Wellington Inn in Alma Terrace, Fishergate, saying ‘we’re hiring.’

Social media is reporting that a Henry and Isabel Smith will be opening the doors of the much-loved pub on August 11.

The couple previously ran the Robin Hood pub in Pontefract. Henry also ran a small brewery.

The recruitment follows the Wellington Inn receiving renovations, including a lick of paint, in preparation for its re-opening.

It comes as adverts have also been placed on social media seeking staff for the Angel and White Horse in Tadcaster.

The ‘flagship’ hostelry, right next to the Old Sam Smith’s Brewery in Bridge Street, Tadcaster, is also reported on social media to be re-opening later this month.

A manager has already been appointed, it too is seeking staff, as well as members of a darts league.

The re-openings follow that of the Tankard Inn at Rufforth, under the management of Paula Dawson. It reopened on Wednesday July 22.

The Press has approached Sam Smith’s brewery for comment and confirmation of the re-openings, but it did not respond to our request.
