Rave reviews and 'great' start for new take away in York city centre

A new takeaway in York is reporting a successful launch for its Yorkshire pudding wraps, as it receives rave reviews online.
Yorkshire Burrito has opened the doors at its new venue at 17 Coney Street, next to Waterstones bookstore.
The venue, which previously contained the Bubbleology bubble tea shop, staged a soft opening on Saturday, with an ‘opening party’ being planned for around August 20.
Yorkshire Burrito began in 2015 and now has five sites in London, including Leicester Square, serving Yorkshire pudding wraps.

Company founder Henry Preen said: “I grew up in Helperby, a little village north of York, and went to school in the city."
The 36 year-old then spent some years in the capiatal, launching and expanding his business.

He said: "I moved back here with my family in 2023, and when the time felt right to open outside London, York felt like the natural choice.”
Henry began promoting the new takeaway in May with teaser signs in the window, which he says helped get the word out and deliver a “great start".
He said: “It’s all good. We have had really good feedback. Everyone loves the food. To be honest, we have gone better than expected, I am really happy. We have a really nice team here as well.”

Henry said neighbouring businesses have been friendly and helpful, and such York values tie in with his own company’s values.
He told The Press: “Friendliness, comfort and familiarity are at the heart of what we try to give customers, and in our first few days we've already met some great people and had some wonderful feedback. We're really happy to be here.”
He continued: “The location is brilliant and we love the shop. It's great to see Coney Street attracting more business, and we're proud to be part of its development. I remember going to Willow Disco just up the street as a teenager, so it feels quite surreal to be opening a shop a stone's throw away now.”
Henry says the menu is based around Yorkshire Burrito classics.
He explained: “It’s all things Sunday roast, fun sides, and our Yorkshire pudding wraps, which we've actually been doing for over ten years now — long before the idea found its way onto other menus around the city.
“Time flies. We put a real emphasis on flavour, generosity (there's no place for being tight on fillings in our shop), and a friendly team who are happy to chat and make you feel at home.
“We've had a fair amount of press since our early days on a market stall in London, and plenty of others have since put their own spin on the Yorkshire burrito — so I'd love to invite people to come try the original."
Henry added: “Call it a friendly challenge: come taste for yourself, and in my opinion — now we're back in the city that started my love of a good roast, and this business — it's still the best.”
Already, Yorkshire Burrito is the taste of the town with Google awarding 4.8 stars out of five, based on 17 reviews.
The latest reviewer gave five stars and said: “Amazing food and lovely staff. I will recommend to everyone. Even kids will enjoy the food in there.”
