A Yorkshire campsite has become the first in the world to gain official arboretum status.
Flaxton Meadows, located in Flaxton, has been accredited by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and The Morton Arboretum for its commitment to tree conservation.
Jon Charters-Reid, owner of Flaxton Meadows, said: "To be recognised as the very first accredited campsite arboretum anywhere in the world proves that commercial tourism can actively restore the planet.
"This isn't just a badge on the wall–it's a complete transformation of what a campsite can be.
"We’re planting for the future, cleaning the air for today, and setting a brand-new global standard right from our doorstep."
An arboretum is an intentionally curated, protected collection of trees managed for conservation, science and public enjoyment.
Flaxton Meadows met rigorous international standards for tree care, biodiversity and environmental stewardship.
It is now listed in the Morton Register of Arboreta, a global database dedicated to tree science and preservation.
