The North York Moors have been named one of the most beautiful places in England.
The Times has recently revealed its list of the 20 most beautiful places in England with places for hikers, history lovers, and beachgoers to enjoy.
The list features places "from wild national parks and buzzy towns to cathedral cities with ancient colleges."
Covering around 1,436km, there are plenty of things to see and do in the North York Moors.
What are the North York Moors like?
On the North York Moors, The Times said: "This national park with a coastline has all the credentials: Yorkshire’s wild and wonderful rolling hills, infiltrated by pastoral valleys such as that at Rosedale, with old mine workings on the valley sides.
"A heritage steam railway clambers over the hills from Pickering to Grosmont, wheezing and blowing as it goes.
"Whitby is a lively coastal resort, renowned for its fish and chips, Dracula connections, and ruined abbey.
"And then there’s the coastal path with spectacular views from sheltered bays to wild headlands.
"Lastingham Grange country house hotel is well located for walks across the moors and has ten acres of gardens to explore."
The area contains a range of nature reserves to explore such as the Hunt Cliff Nature Reserve and the Raincliffe and Forge Valley Woods National Nature Reserve.
Throughout the summer, you will be able to spot lots of honeybees, butterflies, and moths flying around the moors.
The Fylingdales Moor is perfect for birdwatchers, as it is home to over 90 species of birds, including merlin, as well as otters and water voles.
The North York Moors covers a huge variety of environments with seaside villages and countryside to explore.
For children, you could spend a day looking around one of the beaches from Sandsend and Cayton Bay to Scarborough.
You might want to extend your trip by getting involved in camping or glamping with sites dotted throughout the moors.
Summer is a particularly good time to visit with lots of country and village shows taking place.
The North York Moors is also home to a lot of restaurants, pubs, and cafés to try out whether you want to soak up some sun in a beer garden or need a coffee after a long hike.
