An out-of-control dog hurt two people before being subdued by police with tasers.
It happened in the village of East Ayton near Scarborough at about3pm yesterday (Tuesday).
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “It is understood that two members of the public were bitten by the dog prior to officers arriving at the scene.
“Officers acted swiftly to bring the situation under control and prevent any further risk to the public. A Taser was deployed and the dog was safely contained.”
The victims suffered minor injuries.
The dog was taken to secure kennels and “is fit and well with no injuries”, police say.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and there is not believed to be any ongoing risk to the wider public at this time,” the force spokesperson said.
“The owner of the dog is assisting us with our enquiries.”
