Something tasty has opened on Coney Street in York.
Hailing as ‘the original Yorkshire pudding wrap’, Yorkshire Burrito was founded in 2015 by Henry Preem – taking the ‘best bits of a roast dinner’ and wrapping them in a giant Yorkshire pudding.
The opening in York marks the company’s first venture out of London, as it currently has locations in Camden, Vauxhall, Wembley, and Leicester Square. Now, Yorkshire Burrito is finally up North, and where it belongs: in Yorkshire!
The company teased the opening by covering the empty unit window at 17 Coney Street with brown paper with a small hole cut out, below the words, ‘Go on… Take a peek…” revealing a QR code to sign up for a free wrap with Yorkshire Burrito.
Yorkshire Burrito had a ‘soft opening’ over the weekend (1 August), with the store manager telling YorkMix that they are currently operating on a reduced menu and figuring out what opening times that will work best.
Currently, they’re offering four varieties of Yorkshire burritos: Beef (£12), Chicken (£11), Cauli Cheese (£10), and Roast Topside Beef (£13); all served with sage and onion stuffing, greens, roast potatoes, and gravy.
Other famous menu items, such as the Loaded Roasties, will be coming very soon.
It operates mainly on a takeaway basis, though there are a few high seats inside, and is currently also available on JustEat.
As well their bricks-and-mortar sites, you can also often find Yorkshire Burrito at festivals and large events up and down the country – their most recent pop-up at Tramlines festival in Sheffield.
Number 17 Coney Street was previously home to the short-lived bubble tea shop Bubbleology, which opened in 2023.
Before that it was The Phone Store, Fone Land York and Rituals Home and Body Cosmetics.
