New expansion for independent Harrogate business that's built up an incredibly loyal following

A popular Harrogate wine shop has added a stylish touch of the continent to the town with the opening of its new outdoor terrace.

Harrogate Mayor Coun Viv Poskitt was on hand to carry out the official launch of Ake & Humphris’s brand new veranda complete with its relaxed wooden decking, tables and chairs.

Independent wine merchants Ake & Humphris has built up a reputation for knowledge, quality and friendliness since school friends Edward Ake and Jonathan Humphris established the store on Leeds Road in Harrogate in September 2010, before expanding into Hastings Court in Collingham.

Last December saw the locally-owned firm with a loyal following open its own town centre wine bar in Harrogate on Oxford Street offering fine wines, spirits and local craft beers on tap.

Now comes the new veranda at Ake & Humphris’s original Leeds Road shop which was packed for the launch night in warm sunshine next to the St George’s Road roundabout which visitors will be able to enjoy throughout the remainder of the summer months.

Sharing the news on social media, Ake & Humphris posted: "We're celebrating the official launch of our new veranda at our Leeds Road branch.

"It's smooth sailing from here into the rest of summer.

"Thanks to Harrogate Mayor for cutting the big red ribbon and to everyone who came to join us.

"We love you guys!"

The sizable new veranda is now open at its Leeds Road shop.
