A magical adventure is coming to York with pirates, fairies, and a familiar boy who never grows up.
York Theatre Royal’s Youth Theatre will present Wendy & Peter Pan on the main house stage from September 3 to 5, with more than 40 young performers aged eight to 19 and a further eight taking part as backstage crew.
This marks the first large-scale Youth Theatre production in the Main House since 2019.
Co-directed by Lydia Crosland, head of communities at York Theatre Royal, and Sophie-Jade Howell, head of youth theatre, the show is a retelling by Ella Hickson of the classic JM Barrie story.
Ms Crosland said: "This is such a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent of our brilliant Youth Theatre community – both on stage and off.
"There is something truly special about co-creating a show with young people, and I can’t wait to watch their creativity shine."
Design is by Kate Marshall, with lighting by Craig Kilmartin and movement support from York Dance Space.
The show is supported by the Feoffees of St Michael’s Spurriergate, York Youth Partnership Funding, and The York Common Good Trust.
Tickets start from £15, with under-16s paying £10.
