A specialist tricycle company in York is giving away a free adult tricycle.

Jorvik Tricycles, one of Europe’s leading tricycle brands, is offering the giveaway to charitable organisations and social enterprises in York as part of a wider competition also taking place in Chester and Southampton.

The tricycle, worth up to £1,000, is designed to promote sustainable and inclusive mobility for adults who may struggle to use a standard two-wheeled bicycle.

James Walker, founder and CEO of Jorvik Tricycles, said: "Over the last decade, we’ve helped more than 37,000 people across the UK and Europe use the increased stability of three wheels to confidently get outdoors and retain their independence, regardless of ability.

"Our personalised customer service and the Jorvik community are at the heart of everything we do and have been pivotal to our success.

"We’re delighted to work closely with charities dedicated to ensuring accessibility and helping more people to enjoy the freedom of three wheels."

Founded in 2014, the company began with Mr Walker building tricycles by hand in his living room, and has since grown into a multi-million-pound retailer.

Nominations for the York giveaway are open from August 4 to 15, with winning charities being contacted on August 17.
