Watch teenage off-road biker risking lives before crashing during police pursuit in Yorkshire
A 15-year-old biker risked lives while trying to flee from police before crashing in South Yorkshire.
South Yorkshire Police shared footage of an officer pursuing teenage on an off-road bike weaving between cars.
The high-speed chase came to a skidding end when the youth misjudged a curb and was sent tumbling across ground without any padding or helmet.
SYP says the case highlights how officers are finding too many off-road bikes are being ridden dangerously by children putting their lives on the line.
The force said: “Just because the suspect is a child, it doesn’t mean they won’t be held accountable for endangering and blighting our communities.
“When riders and drivers make off from officers, there is usually a reason, and officers pursue the suspects to find out why and get to the bottom of any offences or wider criminality.
“Regularly, officers are finding those riding off-road bikes illegally and dangerously to be children.

“If you are thinking about buying your child an off-road bike, please remember it is illegal for them to be used on public pavements and roads.
“They must only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. This is also the same for electric scooters.”
The pursuit in April ended with the 15-year-old boy prosecuted for dangerous driving, driving without a licence and no insurance.
He was sentenced to attend a Youth Justice Service panel - alongside his parent - for six months. He was also ordered to pay a fine.
Investigating Officer PC Luke Bugdol said: “We are continuing to urge parents to stop their children riding illegal off-road bikes.
“These bikes are powerful and dangerous. It’s not harmless fun, it’s not kids being kids, it can end in fatality and death. Please be responsible.”
