Three-year-old seriously injured after being hit by car in Middlesbrough
A three-year-old child is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car at the weekend.
Cleveland Police said a child was hit by a car on Byelands Street, at the junction with Newstead Road, just before 4.15pm on Sunday (Aug 2).
The vehicle involved had been travelling eastbound on Newstead Road from Clairville Road when the incident occurred.
Police said the girl was taken to hospital, and is still receiving treatment for serious injuries.
A statement said: “A 36-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the collision and is being questioned, while enquiries continue.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw a grey MG car or who witnessed (or caught relevant footage of) the collision itself to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number.
“Please quote ref 081662.”
